"Light is, after all, a sculptor of space, the space sculptor par excellence. Further light is a medium a medium of perception (even before it becomes a medium of representation). It is right that the expression 'light space' exists. It means that space only begins to dawn in light. Space is first of all clarification. In light spaces we are present at the processes of becoming space. The dawning of space is in it a dawning that takes place in the viewers themselfes. Clarification is a perceptual process in which, as Goethe said, one can learn to notice, observe, sense the feats accomplished by light: that is, grasp something of the link between light, space and perception, a link with is usually inconspicious or forgotten in everyday living."
